“I have always been a huge fan of art, ever since I can remember. My parents had art books though they were not collectors, and I always had my nose in them. I remember sitting on the floor of the formal-living room leafing through books on Salvador Dali. I have loved his work my whole life. There is something so magical about the way he paints. I bought my first work, a lithograph, with money from my Bar Mitzvah in 1980.
My father and I walked into a gallery that they frequented (they were friends with the owner) and I picked the work out then. I still have it. It hangs in the same frame in our library where my family and I often watch TV. I’ll probably give it to my son for his Bar Mitzvah in a few years. Since I was a teenager, I have been an ravenous art collector, sometimes to my wife’s dismay.
We have three original Dali paintings, roughly 50 lithographs and seven sculptures which are in our home and my office. I’ve also collected emerging artists and tend to collect Surrealism, though I haven’t found a living artist yet that inspires me the same way Dali does.”
