ART BASEL Exhibit planned- MacDonald, Dali, Hart, Fabergé

As many of my may know, I am in the process of curating an exhibit of sculptures for the Coral Gables Country Club to benefit the University of Miami’s Lowe Art Museum for the upcoming ART BASEL Miami Week, December 2-5th, 2010. Among the artists we are featuring are Spanish Master Salvador Dali (1904-1989), American Masters Frederick E. Hart (1943-1999) and Richard MacDonald (b. 1946) as well as Hungarian Master Márton Váró and British Icon Mr. Theo Fabergé. This has allowed me access to many collections of each artist and I have been able to assemble quite a broad array of their most noted masterpieces.

Among the works scheduled to appear are Dali’s “Vénus de Milo aux tiroirs” on two scales, several of Hart’s “Ex Nihilo” bronzes from his work at Washington National Cathedral, MacDonald’s “Sisters” suite of “Dance the Dream” and “Red Dress“, “Trumpeter” “Showtime” and other masterworks.

Here is a sneak peek of some other works I have been able to locate in relation to this exhibit…..

Richard MacDonald (b. 1946) Joie de Vivre, Nude (1998) 55” x 36” x 38” Bronze, edition of 25 The Joie de Vivre perfectly encapsulates the epitome of motion, lightness and grace in the lyrically musical nymphs. Balanced delicately on their toes and springing forth with vigor and energy, they perfectly capture the term... "Joie de Vivre". Sold out edition of 25.
THE RED ADMIRAL EGG A CREATION BY THEO FABERGÉ Theo Fabergé designed his RED ADMIRAL EGG as a token to the beauty and fragility of nature. He was inspired by his and by Carl Fabergé’s love of flower surprises, thus following the family tradition but within his own style. The Egg is made using materials and techniques made famous by the Fabergé family. The RED ADMIRAL EGG is engine turned and then guilloché enameled in rich red, one of the most difficult and individual enamel colors to achieve. The exterior surfaces are ornamented in gold and silver with the leaves and seed pods of exquisite passion flowers. The base is ornamentally turned on Theo Fabergé’s Holtzappfel lathe dating from 1861. The finial is the Imperial Crown of the Romanov dynasty, set with a cabochon ruby. Open the Egg to reveal the surprise; a red admiral butterfly fashioned in gold and silver, its wings hand enameled and set with ten sparkling diamonds, settles on an enameled passion flower. The flower’s support, an engine turned bowl standing on a plinth bearing the full British hallmark. Each creation is numbered and bears Theo Fabergé’s name. Presentation in a golden carriage-case with limited edition certificate. Edition of 50 worldwide. Height 16 cms
