Robin Rile Fine Art is pleased to present a rare group of six original works by Salvador Dalí from his celebrated The Loves of Ovid series, created in 1976–1977. Inspired by Ovid’s Metamorphoses, these intimate gouache, watercolor, ink, and pencil compositions reinterpret the myths of classical antiquity through Dalí’s unmistakable Surrealist imagination.
Executed with remarkable spontaneity, the series reveals a more lyrical and expressive side of the artist. Fluid washes of watercolor, energetic line work, and luminous color create dreamlike scenes populated by mythological figures, poetic symbolism, and Dalí’s signature visual vocabulary. Though modest in scale, each work possesses an exceptional sense of movement and narrative, rewarding close examination.
Each composition measures approximately 10⅝ × 8¼ inches (27.2 × 21.1 cm) and is offered individually. Collectively, they represent a rare opportunity to acquire original, one-of-a-kind Dalí works that bridge his lifelong fascination with classical literature and the subconscious.
These works are currently located in the United States. Please inquire for pricing, provenance, additional images, and condition information.
