In this Christ by Salvador Dalí the “Flame of Living Love” from one of the mystical works of St. John of the Cross, who was one of the most extraordinary Spanish poets and whom Dalí greatly admired, is symbolized by fire. Christ is the cross, the wood does not exist. Complete surrender. It is an eternal moment. From the 1950s, Dalí entered a distinct period of his work, which developed religious metaphysical- mystical themes, taking shape in works such as the various “Christs”, this one of “St. John of the Cross”, the “Crucifixion or Corpus Hypercubicus”, “The Last Supper”, etc.
