Dali’s tribute to The Renaissance.
Dali’s Perseus is practically a copy of Cellini’s “Perseus with the Head of Medusa” ordered by Cosimo I de Medicis to be placed below La Loggia del Lanzi in Florence. The artist recognized this sculpture as his major work, emphasizing with pride the difficulty of technical challenge and as quality, its perfection from all possible points of view.
P.E. casts of the 73 x 36,5 x 29,5 cm edition are part of the permanent collections of the Davenport Museum of Art (Iowa, USA) and of the Mississippi Museum of Art (Jackson, USA).
