Daniel Mazzone is a Canadian contemporary artist. Mazzone uses materials like historic newspapers, copies of letters and song lyrics, and other imagery to create pop-art style collages of his subjects. His subjects include famous athletes, celebrities from Old Hollywood, women, and even landscapes. Mazzone’s artwork is collected by some very notable individuals, such as Jose Bautista, Michael Wekerle, and members of the Tanenbaum family. Daniel Mazzone was born on July 18th, 1980, to Italian parents. He attended the Cardinal Carter School of the Arts but suffered a turbulent home life and left home at the age of 15. He was homeless for several years. Following a reconnection with his parents, he returned to school and ended up attending Ryerson University to pursue a business degree. After successfully completing his degree, Mazzone became a mortgage broker. However, he was dissatisfied with his career and began creating collages. After a friend asked if he could put Mazzone’s artwork on display at his restaurant, Mazzone received an offer on his artwork. This first painting sold for $14,000.00.
Bask (the moniker of Ales “Bask” Hostomsky) creates richly textural work which have been featured and installed the world over. His installations, murals and exhibitions stretch from Paris to San Francisco; from Hawaii at POW! WOW! to the big screen in Hollywood’s billion-dollar blockbuster films like “Iron Man 3” and “Fast and Furious 8”. He expresses his “anti-iconic,” sometimes satirical worldview, through unrivaled graphic skill in trademark multi-layered thought-provoking application. Influenced by pop culture and the experience of Soviet oppression in his native Czech Republic, Bask now calls Saint Petersburg, Florida home.
