Curator Statement:
Dear Friends,
We at Robin Rile Fine Art and Life Is Art are dedicated to the arts, not only in South Florida, but the world at large. Sometimes, in our busy lives as art fans and critics, we overlook the tremendous talents in our own backyard. The diversity and breadth of talent which is nurtured and fed by the South Florida atmosphere is both brilliant and indicative of our culture as a whole. The myriad influences of our music, our food, our people, our colors, our sunshine, our collective and respective histories and stories all congeal to develop a texture which is unlike other cities in the United States, and perhaps the world itself. Throughout the past weeks and months, we have culled together a broad spectrum of these talented individuals in order to develop an exhibition as broad as we are as a people and as a cultural proving-grounds, of sorts. As we seek to become the next truly great artistic destination in the world, we work not to discover the “Next big thing”, but instead to discover what may be the Miami voice itself. Our purpose was not to build a show where everything blended together perfectly because life does not blend together without discord. Instead, our mission was to find the best South Florida had to offer to us and allow you to decide how, and if, they coalesce into a harmony.
To this end, our jury has selected talents who have deep and connected roots to our artistic landscape. Talents that have spanned generations and hosted museum exhibitions in their name, as well as relative newcomers whose work we feel can eschew in a new face tothe Miami art scene.
It is our hope that these artists re-instill your faith in the talents of South Florida’s burgeoning art scene, as they have for each of us.
