Adam & Eve Comes Back!

GIROTTO- Adam & Eve

Twenty-three years ago, I had the privilege of placing this remarkable painting, Adam & Eve, by Italian artist Walter Girotto, with one of my clients, who we will call, “Bob”.

At the time, I was still managing 3 locations of Collection Privée gallery including the one in Tampa’s historic Old Hyde Park Village, where Bob assembled an extraordinary collection over several years. Together, we placed over twenty works in his home, including paintings by Walter Girotto and Tomasz Rut, along with sculptures by Frederick Hart, Glenna Goodacre, and Richard MacDonald.

After the collection was complete, I flew to California to help Bob install the works throughout his home. We spent several wonderful days together moving paintings and sculptures into place, sharing meals and wine, and listening as Bob explained what each work meant to him. It wasn’t simply a collection, it reflected his appreciation for beauty, craftsmanship, and the artists themselves.

Over the years, Bob and I stayed in touch.

Sadly, Bob recently passed away. Before doing so, he asked his family to contact me to help find new homes for the collection he had so carefully assembled. The first work to become available is Walter Girotto’s magnificent Adam & Eve, an original oil and oil pastel on wood panel measuring 69 × 41 inches (175.3 × 104.1 cm). One aspect that makes this painting particularly special is that Walter Girotto has personally reaffirmed its authenticity this year by signing a new Certificate of Authenticity. Maintaining relationships with many of the artists I’ve represented over the past three decades has made it possible to continue supporting collectors long after the original sale.

There is something especially meaningful about helping a work I’ve known for more than twenty years begin its next chapter.

If Adam & Eve speaks to you, I would be delighted to share additional photographs, provenance, pricing, and discuss the opportunity to become its next custodian.
